The initial context
In the early 1990s, like the other public services in Argentina, the water and sanitation service of the Buenos Aires urban area was in a difficult situation and the former public authority, Obras Sanitarias de la Nación (OSN), no longer had the technical and financial resources to ensure its recovery or development.
Our missions
In 1993, the government called on Aguas Argentinas to deploy the technical competencies and financial resources required to restore the situation of the water and sanitation services and gradually connect the populations not served, especially those in the disadvantaged districts which represent about 20% of the Buenos Aires urban area.
The missions of Aguas Argentinas were to improve the quality of service and expand the services to new customers.
